CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Keeping in line with school philosophy, there is an extensive belief that it is as important to be competitive and creative in the classroom as well outside it. Numerous opportunities are provided to students during their study at Naimisharanya School to develop and nurture talents be it in sport, music, film making, mountaineering etc. We at Naimisharanya always encourage our students to follow their passions and to be bold and confident to go after what they wish to achieve. Confidence building is just as crucial to overall success as good grades and we hope to inspire all our students to leave as fully developed, well rounded young adults upon their graduation from the school .
Sports
Sport has a much greater role in the development of students in terms of character building properties and personality building traits necessary in all citizens of the future. We firmly believe that a healthy body is the key to a healthy mind. Continuing to persevere with this belief – Sport is given utmost importance at Naimisharanya School. With a strong team of sport focused leaders, the school aims to provide a structured and thorough curriculum of sport throughout student life to keep students engaged while being able to identify and nurture talent across multiple sports. Students of Naimisharanya School have been national champions in Table-Tennis & Badminton. Additionally, we have had consistent winners in the C.B.S.E. cluster, Khel Mahakumbh, Zonal and National Championships in these sports as well as in various Martial Arts. The Annual Sports Meet is a grand Inter House event which provides an opportunity to all students to showcase their talent, sporting abilities, physical fitness while emphasising the mantras of team spirit, communication, discipline and leadership.
The Arts
The school recognizes the importance of holistic education with equal emphasis on Academics, Physical Activities, and Creative and Artistic Endeavours. Students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of pursuits. Students of classes VI-X have cultural activities as part of their curriculum wherein they are imparted lessons in Dance, Yoga, Vocal and Instrumental Music. The school is reputed for excellence in Debates, Quizzing, Drama, Public Speaking, Vocal and Instrumental Music, Dance, and Art & Craft. As part of all round development for senior students, the school also conducts sessions on Communication Skills, Confidence Building, Leadership Development, Environment Conservation and Personality Development. Additionally, we also focus on pertinent issues such as Sexual & Reproductive Health, Gender Studies, Goal Setting, Time Management, Advances in Technology and their Applications, and Career Orientation.
Non–Scholastic Activities
Non–Scholastic Activities have been designed with the objective to provide an avenue of exploration allowing students to hone innate talents and to inculcate in them spirit of community building through participation in practical activities. These mini societies cover a wide areas of interest including Photography, Cooking, Ecology, Quizzing, Literature, Theatre, Cricket, Martial Arts, Health and Wellness, Debating, Maths, Community service etc.
Students are motivated to articulate and express their thoughts and share in the collective knowledge gathered by all those involved. The students are sensitized towards the needs of the hour as these clubs help in putting a theoretical education into a practical ‘real’ purpose. Students are encouraged to examine issues, review current modalities and understand the ‘how’ and ‘why’ behind their favourite areas of interest and hobbies.
School Clubs
The school clubs helps in and building the Team Spirit and encourage a sense of community and motivate the children to take part in Social Club, Seva Club, Eco Club Health Club and give in their contribution towards raising awareness. These clubs also help in transforming Cognitive Development into Application Based Learning and create a sense of belongingness and responsibility.
Parent Teacher Association
Educational success is partnership between the school and the parents. We have 6 to 7 Parents Teachers’ Meeting in a year. Only mutual support of one community (school) to another (Parents) is necessary to ensure that student development is maximised. Cross communication, open dialogue and increased transparency between schools and parents is imperative toward to the continuous and comprehensive development of all students. Through the school diary, emails, phone calls and the school website; we try and ensure that there is no delay or lapse in communication.
House System
To work for effective management of school activities, discipline and foster the spirit of espirit de corps the school has established a House System. Each student is allocated one of the four houses. The names of the houses are Albert Einstein, Dr Abdul Kalam, Dr Vikram Sarabhai, Issac Newton, signifying the aims and ideals for students to work in collaboration and develop the spirit of team work.
